Felabration on the Streets of Lagos

The semi grand finale of Felabration, which is a carnival to celebrate the life and times of late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was held today in Ikeja, Lagos.

For the carnival, fans and lovers of the late Fela came out in large numbers inspite of heavy downpour.

Christian Jensen, a Denmark man who lives in London said he came down to have an experience of the Felabration and celebrate with Nigerians. “I never knew Fela during his lifetime but I got to know about him in 2008 and I enjoy his music,” he said.

Jensen said this is his second time of coming to Nigeria to partake in the annual Felabration.

He explained that he enjoyed every bit of it and even started the street carnival with the organisers and had been on the road since morning.

Similarly, David Jackson, a composer and songwriter said he came down to Nigeria because of his love for Fela and to have fun.
