Umaru Manko, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has debunked rumours making the rounds that members of Boko Haram sect have invaded some parts of the state.
The commissioner, while shedding light on the state of security in Lagos State, said there was no iota of truth in the rumour making the rounds that the Islamic terrorist sect attacked some highways and areas in Lagos State, emphasising that the state remains as peaceful as ever.
Short messages and posts speculating the insurgent groups’ attack in some areas of Ogun and Lagos state became rife between yesterday and the early hours of today causing anxiety and unrest among citizens.
Manko assured that all security agents in the state have their loins girded to avert any security breach.
He urged members of the public to carry out their normal activities without any fear. In addition, he warned citizens to desist from spreading information that can cause distress or obstruct the peace of the nation.
