U.S. Reiterates Support for Nigeria Over Terror War

John Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State has reiterated the United States support for Nigeria in routing Boko Haram insurgency from the country.

John Kerry is on a 3-days tour of some African countries including Ethiopia, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, to discuss the security and political situation in parts of the continent, with major concentration on the violence in South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

Kerry made the pledge Friday, May 2 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian capital while addressing newsmen.

The U.S. Secretary of State who expressed displeasure over the consistent attacks on civilian population, mainly women and children in some parts of Nigeria, said there are many nations who risk going into broad based violence, unless adequate measures are taken to address such security situations.

Kerry had earlier held a meeting with the African Union Commission delegation led by Eratus Mwencha, the commission’s Deputy Chairperson, on the merger of the US-AU High Level Dialogue.
