400 Lagos Residents Get Free Malaria Treatment

 

In order to commemorate the 2014 World Malaria day, Chamagne Foundation, a non governmental organization in partnership with PEER group initiative and a team of volunteers has offered free malaria treatment to not less than 400 residents of Akiode, Ogba and Ojodu area of Lagos State on May 17.

The organization also offered the beneficiaries free drugs, Long lasting insecticide-treated nets,LLIN, and medical tests for malaria.

Omotara Oroge, president of the Chamagne foundation, said she is happy to be in this environment to help kick out malaria. “We came to this environment to clean, to test people and to give out treated nets. The foundation is equally concerned with a lot of things in this community, especially the dirty running waters, that make children vulnerable” she explained.

Speaking at the event, Jeffrery Hawkins, US consul general in Lagos, said he is happy to be part of the kick out malaria program. He said the “United States, US, wants to work with Nigeria to kick out malaria and I am happy to be part of it. I commend all for coming out to help the children,” he said.

Ade Maradesa, Chairman, Ojodu Community Development Council, commended the effort of the foundation for rendering help to the environment. “We will do everything to assist the foundation to help kick out malaria in the environs,” he said.
