A red BRT bus with a registration number LAR 112 XA has veered into a shallow ditch close the median strip along Lagos-Ibadan expressway. An eyewitness said the driver was trying to move away for an on-coming vehicle. Another account from one of the passengers says the driver lost control. “I think the driver simple lost control. He was not speeding, he was driving well, he suddenly lost control and we found ourselves here. But we thank God, we are alive.”, he said. The driver, who declined to comment, was seen limping around the fallen bus, as he tried to assess the level of damage inflicted on the bus. Few passengers sustained minor wounds, but they expressed displeasure at the state of the road. “The government should have filled this ditch any how, it is dangerous, vehicles fall here often.”, said a female passenger. Meanwhile, during the rescue efforts by some passers-by, some items belonging to the passengers like cell phones were reportedly stolen.
