Amosun Attributes Development to Wise Use of Resources

As the third anniversary of the administration of Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State approaches, the governor has attributed the unprecedented infrastructural projects he executed throughout the state to a judicious use of taxpayers’ money.

Amosun who made the disclosure during an inspection trip of Sango-Akute-Ojodu road currently under construction, stated that he has kept his promise of ensuring strict prudence in handling taxpayers’ money when he assumed office. He also said the commissioning of life-changing projects to commemorate the government’s three years will showcase discreet financial management of resources.

While stressing that the government has relied greatly on its Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, to execute projects because of dwindling federal allocation, Amosun refuted claims in some quarters that it had been borrowing from banks. “We have the master plan which will take some time to mature but we have sense to achieve it. I swore to an oath to do the best for the good people of Ogun State and make judicious use of resources. Some people have been erroneously thinking that we are borrowing. This is not true. We have only been using our brain. We have been planning based on our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). If I wait till when we will have the money to execute our projects, then, I will be vision less,” Amosun said. The governor also used the opportunity to thank the people of Ogun State for their support. “I feel fulfilled and thankful to God and our people for their support which has helped us thus far.

Things that seem impossible are now becoming possible in Ogun State,” he added. While reiterating his administration’s commitment to bring the state to an enviable pedestal, the governor said progress is being made on the Ayetoro, Ilisan-Ago/Iwoye as well as the 110km Ilara-Oja/Odan-Tombolo-Egua road projects. ”We are striving hard to get Ogun to an enviable pedestal. With the way we are going, our state will never be the same again,” Amosun assured.
