What began as an ordinary Sunday morning shopping trip at a supermarket in the Aboru area quickly turned into a dramatic scene after a drunk young man claiming to be an NBM (Aye/Black Axe) cultist clashed with a senior police officer.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at Emma*** Supermarket, where customers were waiting in line to make payments. Eyewitnesses say the intoxicated man suddenly began harassing shoppers, insisting he must skip the queue. His unruly behavior drew the attention of a senior police officer, who calmly warned him to behave.

Rather than back down, the cultist allegedly shouted at the officer, boasting: “Do you know me? I be NBM Black Ax£.”

According to witnesses, the officer did not take the threat lightly. He reportedly walked to his vehicle, retrieved his pistol and handcuffs, and told the cultist to call his members because he was ready to “deal with him.”

The once-brash troublemaker suddenly grew quiet, with observers joking that “the drink cleared from his eyes immediately.” Fearing arrest, he tried to hide inside the supermarket and resisted coming out.

Eventually, some area boys were called in to assist. They dragged the cultist out of the store, reportedly gave him a “light beating,” before handing him over for police action.

By the time he was forced to the ground in cuffs, his earlier claims of being a “strong man” had vanished, leaving many in the crowd laughing at the swift turn of events.

The Lagos State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement, but locals described the intervention as a reminder that public spaces are not for lawlessness, regardless of affiliations.
