Edo APC Gubernatorial Candidate Okpebholo Pledges Justice for Slain Police Orderly, Announces Full University Scholarships for His Children

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State, and senator representing Edo Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Monday Okpebholo, on Monday made a promise to sponsor up to the university level, the children of his slain police orderly, Inspector Akor Onuh, who died last Thursday when his motorcade was attacked by some gunmen along Airport Road on arrival from Abuja with Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor of the state. Senator Okpebholo said he would not allow their father’s killers to also kill his dream of giving them university education.
During his visit to the bereaved family, he also vowed to ensure he got justice for the deceased police officer amidst trading of blames between his party in the state and the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, over who carried out the gun attack that took the life of the police personnel and injured several others.
A statement by his legislative aide on media and communication, Godswill Inegbe, said Senator Okpebholo also gave a welfare package to the wife of the slain Inspector Onuh and promised to cater for them, vowing not to allow their father’s dream to give them good education to die.
According to the governorship candidate in the September 21 election, “One of your father’s dreams was for all of you to become graduates in order to have a better future. I will not let that dream to die with him, and I won’t allow his killers to also kill that dream. From this moment, I will be personally responsible for your education till university level. I want to seize this painful moment to assure you all, that I will not rest until the killers of your father are brought to justice.”
