The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a $5 million reward for any credible information leading to the arrest of Ruja Ignatova, the elusive Bulgarian-born fraudster behind the notorious OneCoin cryptocurrency scam.
Ignatova—widely known as the “Cryptoqueen”—vanished in 2017 after allegedly defrauding investors of more than $4 billion through a fake global crypto scheme. According to investigators, she boarded a flight from Bulgaria to Greece and disappeared without a trace, triggering one of the largest financial manhunts in modern history.
The FBI listed her among its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives in 2022, describing her as highly dangerous, extremely resourceful, and possibly travelling under a new identity. Officials believe she may be using forged documents, relying on international criminal networks, or hiding under the protection of organised crime groups.
Despite several global raids and arrests linked to the OneCoin empire—including her brother Konstantin Ignatov—Ignatova herself has not been seen for nearly eight years. The FBI says the new $5 million reward aims to revive global cooperation and encourage whistleblowers with insider knowledge to come forward.
OneCoin, founded in 2014, was marketed as a revolutionary cryptocurrency but turned out to be one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history, leaving millions of victims across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
With renewed international pressure and a significantly increased bounty, authorities believe the world may be closer than ever to finally uncovering the whereabouts of the missing Cryptoqueen.
