Female Students Kidnapped in Kebbi State

An unknown number of female students have on Thursday been abducted by bandits at the Federal Girls College, Yawuri in Kebbi State, Northwest Nigeria.
Reports say the gunmen arrived at the school in the afternoon, and demanded at gun point that the guards on duty should direct them to the girls’ hostel.
The bandits were said to have led the students out of the school premises to a yet unknown destination. A staff of the school who said the gun shots scared many people and prevented them from attempting to save the students, added that no fewer than 30 of them would have been taken away. But another source said there was a futile attempt by the police to save the victims. He however said that one policeman was killed in the process.
Parents and school authority were as at press time trying to determine the number of those kidnapped.
