Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State on Monday, August 24, presented gold bars and precious stones mined from his state to President Buhari.

Zamfara State has the highest gold deposits in the country.

In addition, the state is also blessed with other minerals like asbestos, columbite, chronite, iron ore, manganese, marble, lithium, and tantalite, which are in commercial quantity.

The illegal mining of the minerals has been linked to the wave of killings and banditry in the state.
