Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu rang in the New Year in grand style, joining some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Seyi Vibez, at the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025. The event, held at multiple locations across Lagos State, brought thousands of residents together to celebrate with music, energy, and pride.
In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the governor thanked the artists who graced the stage and the residents who made the night unforgettable.
“A heartfelt thank you to the incredible artists who honoured Lagos’ call to perform and made the night unforgettable—Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, and many more,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Your talent and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to every corner of Lagos.”
The governor described the atmosphere as “electric,” with the spirit of Lagos shining through in every moment. He also commended Lagosians for their unity and vibrant energy, noting that the celebration exemplified the city’s unique character.
“It was a celebration like no other. Lagos is home. Together, we ushered in 2025 with unmatched energy and pride,” he added.
The countdown was celebrated across five key locations in Lagos—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe. The main stage at Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island served as the heart of the festivities, featuring show-stopping performances that left the audience in awe.
