Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, as acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, by Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian’s president. The appointment takes effect from October 21.
Oyo-Ita, who hails from Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State, is the first woman to head such a position. Until her appointment, she was the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
Bolaji Adebiyi, director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said the appointment is “a testimony of Mr. President’s implicit confidence and trust” in her ability to discharge the responsibilities of the office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.”
She took over from Danladi Kifasi, who was due for retirement in December. Kifasi had since proceeded on his pre-retirement leave.
