Five Nigerians have been nominated for the 2014 African Fashion Awards. They include Omoyemi Akerele of Style House Files, Lisa Folawiyo of eponymous fashion label, Amaka Osakwe of Maki Oh, Favour Lucky & Imade Ogbewi both models from Isis Modelling Agency.
It’s not just a Nigerian affair though as designers from South Africa, Ghana, Kenya and Italy, were also nominated for the event set to take place on Sunday 2nd November 2014 at Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa. Organised by Africa Fashion International, AFI, the awards recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements in fashion, modeling, retail and other clothing and textile related art forms in Africa and beyond.
Sizwe Nzimade AFI Marketing Manager, while speaking on the awards, said it is a great privilege to recognize and reward outstanding individuals contributing to the development of the African fashion industry.
“The 2014 nominees stand out in a crowd that is already highly impressive and AFI looks forward to honoring them in a ceremony worthy of their outstanding efforts and achievements,” he said.
