NPF Signs MOU with US Department of States

The Nigeria Police Force, NP Fhas announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with the Department of States Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement of the United States of America on Wednesday, July 23 in Abuja. As contained in a press release signed by Frank Mba,Nigerian Police Force Public Relations Officer, the MoU, is part of comprehensive measures geared towards tackling emerging crimes, strengthening the criminal justice system and improving the capacity of officers in the area of technologies, new policing concepts and practices while effectively addressing the issues of insurgency confronting the nation especially in the North-Eastern part of the country.

The international Police Education and Training Programme,which would be supervised by the US authorities with funding from the US States Department is said to benefit the NPF.

The MoU was executed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar and the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle,on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force and the US Government respectively.

In his remarks, Entwistle said the programmeis aimed at improving and modernizing police training in Nigeria and to bring about a well-trained Nigeria Police that is dedicated to the “highest standards of ethical conduct, proficiency in law enforcement and build on efforts of Nigeria Police to implement a sustainable development.”
