Obayan, Former Covenant Varsity VC is Dead

Aize Obayan 59, former Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University Ota, and a Professor of Guidance and Counselling has been reported dead. Obayan, whose cause of death is yet unknown, was the Director of Covenant University’s Africa Leadership Development Centre (ALDC).

That was her second duty post after retiring as the vice chancellor of Covenant University in 2012.

She had gone to take up the job of vice chancellor of a sister university, Landmark University in Kwara State. Obayan died less than one year after winning her prolonged case at the Supreme Court against her former employer- University of Ilorin, over what she consistently described as her unjust dismissal in September 1999. The legal victory of UNILORIN, which accused her of overstaying her sabbatical in an offshore university, was upturned at the Supreme Court.
