Rochas Okorocha, Imo State governor and chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors Forum has said that the Peoples Democratic Party governors’ position on the use of card readers indicates that the party is apprehensive of defeat in the fast approaching polls.
The PDP governors expressed their dissatisfaction at the level of preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, especially as it concerns the use of card readers.
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Onwuemedo, Okorocha appreciated the innovation and described it as worthy of applause by Nigerians. He also described anyone who did not support the new technology as having ulterior motive.
Okorocha lamented that the PDP governors were scared of trying something new when the card reader technology promises to bring flawless electoral processes.
“PDP has been caught by the fear of the unknown. The Nigerian masses have since abandoned them, and they are already aware of their fate at the poll. PDP is afraid of its shadows. The party has lost some weight,” he said.
The governor described INEC as “a progressive institution” and advised that they “should not listen to the voice of retrogression.”
