The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed and died earlier today.
In an emotional statement issued on Thursday, the party described the tragedy as an “inexplicable loss and indescribable pain”, noting that the news came as a profound shock to the National Working Committee led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as well as members across the country—particularly in Bayelsa State, where the late Ewhrudjakpo was widely respected.
The PDP hailed Senator Ewhrudjakpo as a principled, honest, and unwavering politician who demonstrated exemplary leadership rooted in integrity and conviction. According to the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, mnipr, the late Deputy Governor was a leader who stood by his values and upheld the ideals of consistency and character throughout his political journey.
“Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a man of principle, not convenience; a leader whose life was anchored on belief, integrity, and strength of character. He held firmly to these virtues until his final moments,” the statement read.
The party expressed deep sorrow over the loss of what it called “a hero of political integrity” and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul. It also extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State, describing the passing as a painful and irreparable blow.
The PDP reaffirmed its solidarity with the bereaved state and urged Nigerians to remember the family and loved ones of the late Deputy Governor in their prayers.
