President Tinubu Announces Major Restructuring of Ministries and Ministerial Portfolios for Enhanced Governance

In a significant move aimed at boosting the efficiency of his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the implementation of eight key actions, which will restructure several ministries and realign ministerial portfolios. These changes, designed to enhance the delivery of his promises to Nigerians, come into effect immediately.

Here are the key actions approved by President Tinubu:

Renaming and Realigning Ministries:

The Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed the Federal Ministry of Regional Development. This new ministry will oversee the activities of all Regional Development Commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Southeast Development Commission, the Northeast Development Commission, and the Northwest Development Commission.
The Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture has been expanded to become the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, reflecting the administration’s focus on promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and the growing creative sector.
Winding Up the Ministry of Sports Development:

The Ministry of Sports Development will be dissolved, with its functions transferred to the National Sports Commission, a move aimed at creating a more vibrant sports economy.
Re-assignment of Ministers:

Ten ministers have been reassigned to new portfolios as part of the reshuffle, aimed at placing individuals in roles where they can deliver the best results.
Ministerial Changes:

Five ministers have been relieved of their duties, while seven new ministers have been nominated and will be sent to the Senate for confirmation.
Key Appointments:

Shehu Dikko has been appointed as Chairman of the National Sports Commission to spearhead the development of sports in Nigeria.
Sunday Akin Dare has been appointed as the President’s Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation, working within the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
These reforms are part of President Tinubu’s broader strategy to streamline government operations, promote economic growth, and ensure the delivery of key services to Nigerians.
