Residents of Igboho in Oyo State erupted in celebration on Saturday after a family allegedly abducted by suspected kidnappers regained their freedom hours after a dramatic intervention by Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho.
The incident, which quickly dominated conversations across social media and local news platforms, began after gunmen reportedly abducted a family comprising a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling from the community during an overnight operation.
According to local sources, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N300 million for the victims’ release before reportedly reducing the amount during negotiations.
Angered by the development, Sunday Igboho convened an emergency meeting with Fulani community leaders and residents in the area, declaring that the growing wave of kidnappings in his hometown had become unacceptable.
In videos that have since gone viral, the activist issued a two-hour ultimatum, insisting that the abducted family members must be released immediately. He reportedly warned that no ransom would be paid and threatened serious consequences if the victims remained in captivity beyond the deadline.
