The Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, has expressed shock and disbelief over the news of the demise of Mrs. Helen Eniola Bello, wife of Eniola Bello, managing director of ThisDay Newspapers.
She died in a London hospital on Tuesday after a three-year battle with breast cancer.
“We commiserate with you and your entire family on this unfortunate and traumatic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, even as we take solace in the Lord who loves her more than we mortals and called her home to be with Him.
“We pray to Almighty God to comfort you and give the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss,” the Guild said in a statement issued by its president, Funke Egbemode.
Born August 1969, the late Helen is survived by her husband, four children, and aged mother. Her husband described her as “a devoted mother, committed friend, generous giver, passionate mobiliser, and humble soul.”
She graduated in Business Administration at Kwara State Polytechnic and Management at Lagos State University. She was a banker, businesswoman and distance learning tutor with Skills Network, UK.
