It was a tense atmosphere at Azama Primary School, Uzairue, Unit 5, ward 11 polling centre of the reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, as he was yet to vote as at 1:20pm due to malfunctioning Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.
Shaibu and other voters in his polling unit were yet to cast their votes despite the provision of another BVAS machine by INEC when the first one did not work.
The development prompted the election officers to call for another backup machine after exhausting the earlier backup machine deployed to the unit.
The situation became worse as another machine brought to replace the faulty. Curiously, the replacement brought at about 12:20pm still did not work, thereby creating a tensed atmosphere at the voting centre.
However, CCTV cameras were strategically positioned around the Azama voting centre, apparently to checkmate any election malpractice.
As at the time of this report, voting was yet to commence in Shaibu’s unit.
