President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, removing key ministers including Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The development was confirmed in an official memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to take over the role.

Oyedele, previously Minister of State for Finance, is expected to lead Nigeria’s economic policy direction at a critical time marked by fiscal reforms, inflation concerns, and revenue generation challenges.

In the same reshuffle, Dangiwa has been directed to step down as Minister of Housing and Urban Development and hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has named Muttaqha Rabe Darma as Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, pending confirmation.

The memo further directed that all handing-over processes be completed on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Explaining the decision, Akume stated that the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening coordination in governance and improving policy delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The President has exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended),” the statement noted.

President Tinubu also thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors, while assuring Nigerians that efforts to reposition the government for optimal performance will continue.
