Donald Trump, candidate of the Republican Party has defeated Kamala Harris, vice president and candidate of the Democratic Party to return to the White House as the 47th president of America. His was a resounding victory that defied all predictions, locally and at the international level. Kamala Harris has called him to concede defeat and congratulate Trump on his victory. President Joe Biden too has congratulated him and invited the new president to the White House for transition meeting. Ahead of his post-election speech, congratulatory messages poured in from leaders around the world. The president-elect had hotly contested his defeat in 2020 by Joe Biden, the outgoing president with whom Harris had won the election that initially denied Trump a second term in office. The latter faced criticism and was even indicted for encouraging a revolt against the system before the elections of that year were concluded. Aside from that, the president-elect had been indicted in the court of law on some charges that are now being speculated could be judicially taken off, since it is considered unconstitutional for a sitting president to face prosecution. He has accepted his election as the new president of the largest democracy in the world.
