The All Progressive Congress, APC has assured that its choice of a Presidential running mate for General Muhammadu Buhari, its flagbearer for the 2015 Presidential elections would be picked within the context of the best democratic standards.

The party stated this in a statement it issued in Lagos Sunday and signed by Lai Mohammed, APC’s National Publicity Secretary. The party said contrary to the misleading reports making the rounds, the APC is yet to meet and deliberate on the issue of presidential running mate not to talk of picking one for Muhammadu Buhari, its presidential candidate.

The party urged Nigerians to ignore reports that a candidate has already been picked to run with Buhari, describing such as unnecessarily sensational, downright speculative and totally misleading reports.

“We are using this opportunity to tell Nigerians to pray for us as we seek to pick a running mate for our presidential candidate. This is because this choice is not just for us but for all of Nigeria,” the party’s statement partly reads.

The party pointed out that all the candidates who have been speculated as Buhari’s running mate are unquestionably competent to be a Vice President or even President.

The APC expressed appreciation for the nationwide interest and feedback that the choice of its presidential candidate and his running mate has generated from Nigerians.

While describing this as a mark of the confidence that Nigerians repose in its members, the party assured it will not disappoint the electorates who regard the party as an agent of change.
