Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring after years of failed negotiations, with the former heavyweight world champions set to clash at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday, December 11, 2026.
The long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown was officially confirmed on Thursday by Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh, ending years of speculation over whether the two fighters would ever face each other.
The fight will be streamed live globally on Netflix, while Alalshikh’s The Ring and Dana White will collaborate on promotion. Netflix confirmed that the event will be available live to its members worldwide at no additional cost.
“For 15 years no one has been able to make this fight,” Alalshikh said in announcing the bout. He added that Fury and Joshua would finally bring their rivalry to the UK as promised to British boxing fans.
The confirmation brings to an end a prolonged saga involving negotiations over the venue, promoters, broadcast arrangements and the fighters’ respective commitments.
Joshua, 30-4 with 27 knockouts, and Fury, 36-2-1 with 25 knockouts, have both held multiple heavyweight world titles but have never faced each other professionally. Both men have also suffered defeats to Oleksandr Usyk during their careers.
Fury most recently defeated Mariusz Wach in July, following his unanimous-decision victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April. Joshua’s latest fight came in July, when he stopped Kristian Prenga after being knocked down twice earlier in the contest.
Neither fighter currently holds a world heavyweight title, making the December meeting a non-title bout. However, the contest brings together two of the most prominent British heavyweight fighters of the modern era.
Dana White said the two fighters collectively bring 66 wins, 52 knockouts and multiple heavyweight world titles into the contest.
The choice of Cardiff follows weeks of uncertainty over the location. New York’s Madison Square Garden had previously been discussed as a possible venue, while London’s Wembley Stadium was also considered. The eventual agreement keeps the fight in the United Kingdom, with Principality Stadium selected as the host venue.
Principality Stadium has a retractable roof and has previously hosted major boxing events involving Joshua. The venue itself confirmed that the fight will take place on December 11 and said the event is expected to run into the early hours to accommodate its global television audience.
The exact start time for the main event has not yet been officially announced.
Fury and Joshua are scheduled to appear at a press conference in London on September 30 ahead of the December showdown. Netflix said details of the undercard will be announced at a later date.
The fight represents the culmination of more than a decade of negotiations surrounding a matchup that was once expected to decide the undisputed heavyweight championship.
Both fighters were previously among the dominant figures in the division, but their paths repeatedly failed to converge as negotiations were interrupted by mandatory title obligations, rematches and other contractual and promotional issues.
The December meeting will therefore be their first professional fight against each other, with the confirmed details now set: Fury vs Joshua, December 11, 2026, Principality Stadium, Cardiff, live globally on Netflix.
