That Asaba, the Delta State capital, has become the favourite of event organisers especially professional bodies, is common knowledge. The reason is not far-fetched. As one of the fastest-growing capital cities, the peace and tranquility of the town, coupled with well-developed infrastructure has made it the tourists’ delight. The state government therefore considered it expedient to build a befitting structure to host outdoor events such that would provide comfort and space for visitors. Also known as The Dome, the cozy ambience of the Delta Events and Convention Centre along the Okpanam Road, some few kilometers from the Asaba International Airport, and just beside the State House of Assembly Complex, is a beauty to behold. The sheer opulence of the Events Centre is not the main attraction. The capacity of the auditorium to accommodate a large number of guests and vehicles is also a major consideration for event organizers. Little wonder therefore it had played host to major national, regional and local events. For example, the Dome hosted the South- South Economic Summit, the 9th edition of the Nigerian Guild of Editors’ Conference, the Nigeria Medical Association Conference as well as that of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, among others. The Super Eagles’ victorious team and its officials were also hosted to a dinner party by the government at The Dome. Visiting very important dignitaries are also hosted to Gala Nights at The Dome.
