The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ahmed Abubakar from Gusau, Zamfara State, was apprehended in the Anguwan Dodo area of Gwagwalada, where he currently resides.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspected ammunition supplier allegedly linked to bandit groups operating in Zamfara State. The arrest took place on Sunday, 7 December 2025, at about 3:30 p.m., following a coordinated intelligence-led operation by the Command’s Tactical Team.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ahmed Abubakar from Gusau, Zamfara State, was apprehended in the Anguwan Dodo area of Gwagwalada, where he currently resides. According to police authorities, Abubakar was intercepted while attempting to procure a large cache of ammunition intended for criminal groups in the North-West.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar had been in communication with an associate, Yusuf Mohammed, to facilitate the purchase of 1,000 rounds of ammunition for onward delivery to bandits in Zamfara.
Further findings show that he was allegedly acting under the instructions of his uncle, Ahmed Yakubu, who is believed to be a major collaborator in the syndicate and is currently on the run.
The Police say Abubakar is now in custody as efforts intensify to track down Yakubu and dismantle the wider criminal network involved in arms supply to bandits.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating criminal activities and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing timely information to support ongoing security operations.
