PDP Cancels Governorship Primary in Ogun State

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has cancelled the governorship primary election earlier scheduled to hold in Ogun State today.

In a statement issued in Abuja today by Olisa Metuh, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the PDP said that the primary election was not authorized.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC hereby states that it did not authorize any governorship primary in Ogun State. Consequently, any such exercise held in Ogun State is hereby declared null and void and of no effect,” the statement partly reads.

Metuh said a new date would be announced later for the conduct of the primary election in the state.
