The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter has condemned the destruction of the office of the All Progressives Congress in OkrikaLocal Government Council area of Rivers State.
Calling onsecurity agencies to ensure perpetrators of such are brought to book, the PDP said news of the attack on the building came it with “sadness.”The party stated this in a statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser, on Media to Felix Obuah, PDP StateChairman in Rivers.
Some members of the APC including Dakuku Peterside, the party’sgovernorship candidate had accused supporters of the PDP of being behind the attack on APC secretariat.
But dissociating itself from the reckless act, the PDP said whoever is responsible for it may have done that out of “ill-conceived motive, not germane to democratic principles, appealing to all politicians to play politics with love, tolerance and fairness.”
Needam described Peterside’s allegation as “premature, irresponsible, inciting and least expected of the calibre of person he claims to be.”
PDP further called on thePolice and other security agencies to intensify their efforts in tracking down APC members destroying its campaign materials and those of Nyesom Wike, it’sgovernorship candidate.
Needamreiterates PDP’s commitment to violence free campaigns and free and fair elections in Rivers State.
