Abuja residents have been left in shock and fear following the disturbing discovery of a woman found dead with her hands tied behind her back in a hotel room in Gwarinpa.

The victim, identified as Aladi Offikwu Johnson, popularly known as Tessy and originally from Benue State, was reportedly seen checking into the hotel with a man on June 16. Hours later, her lifeless body was discovered under suspicious and horrifying circumstances.

According to reports confirmed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, the man who checked in with Tessy left the premises alone. When hotel staff carried out routine checks, they found her unresponsive and alerted the authorities. Medical personnel confirmed that she was already dead.

This chilling case has triggered a massive manhunt by the FCT Police, who are now searching for the unidentified man last seen with the deceased.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, has ordered a discreet but thorough investigation, assuring the public that justice will be served.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, warned residents especially women to be extremely cautious about meeting unfamiliar individuals and to always share their whereabouts with trusted friends or family. She also advised hotel owners and managers to take internal security more seriously, including installing surveillance systems and verifying the identity of all guests.

Social media has erupted with grief, anger, and demands for accountability as the video of the aftermath of the incident continues to circulate. Many have raised concerns about the growing cases of gender-based violence and the apparent ease with which perpetrators evade detection in Nigeria.

The police have urged anyone with useful information regarding the suspect or the incident to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation. The FCT Police Command has also extended condolences to the victim’s family and reiterated their commitment to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

The tragic death of Tessy has once again spotlighted the urgent need for safety reforms in Nigeria’s hospitality industry and stronger measures to protect women from violence. As investigations continue, the public watches closely, demanding answers and justice.
