Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the constitution of a seven-member committee to interface with the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area over humanitarian assistance and post-attack recovery efforts.

The committee was set up to implement and coordinate the humanitarian support earlier announced by the governor following the recent violent attack on Woro, which claimed several lives and displaced residents.

In a statement issued on Friday, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, said the committee will be chaired by His Royal Highness, Hon. Ahmed Ibn Muhammad, the Kiwozi of Kugiji and a former lawmaker who represented Kaiama Local Government Area.

Other members of the committee include:

  • Aisha Abubakar Sadiq, Vice Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Council
  • Alhaji Abubakar Mora
  • Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu, Village Head of Woro
  • One representative of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)
  • One representative of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP)
  • A female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG)

According to the statement, the committee has a four-week mandate to engage directly with community leaders and affected residents to assess urgent humanitarian needs, guide rebuilding efforts, and address outstanding concerns arising from the incident.

The initiative is part of the Kwara State Government’s broader strategy to restore peace, provide relief to victims, and ensure inclusive engagement with affected communities following security breaches.

Governor AbdulRazaq has reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives, supporting survivors, and preventing a recurrence of violence across the state.
