Abia Governor Alex Otti Pays ₦25 Million for Ngozi Nwosu’s Treatment After Actress’s Emotional Plea for Help

Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has received a major lifeline after Abia State Governor Alex Otti approved and paid ₦25 million towards her ongoing medical treatment, days after the actress made a public appeal for financial assistance.

The intervention, announced on Wednesday, has been widely praised by fans, colleagues, and well-wishers, who described it as a timely act of compassion for one of Nigeria’s most celebrated screen icons.

According to the Abia State Government, Governor Otti directed that the funds be paid directly to the hospital where the actress is currently receiving treatment.

The payment, made on July 29, 2026, represents the first phase of the state’s support for the Abia-born actress as she battles an undisclosed illness.

The Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as J Martins, confirmed the development in a statement released shortly after the transfer was completed.

“Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise by directing a ₦25 million payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress, Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment,” Martins said.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Otti for what he described as a compassionate intervention aimed at saving the life of one of the state’s most accomplished entertainers.

The financial support comes after Ngozi Nwosu revealed that she had been hospitalised for about three weeks while undergoing treatment for a serious medical condition.

Last week, the actress made an emotional appeal to Nigerians, disclosing that she urgently needed ₦30 million to undergo three critical surgeries after the cost of her medical care became overwhelming.

Her appeal quickly attracted widespread sympathy across the country, with many fans, colleagues, and industry stakeholders calling for support to help her receive the treatment she urgently requires.

Governor Otti’s intervention now covers a substantial portion of the medical expenses, reducing the financial burden facing the veteran actress.

However, supporters say additional assistance may still be required to offset the remaining medical costs and ensure she completes her treatment successfully.

Ngozi Nwosu is widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, with a career spanning several decades.
