Award-winning American rapper and actor Ludacris, whose real name is Christopher Brian Bridges, has officially become a citizen of Gabon—alongside his entire family—after tracing his ancestral roots to the West Central African country.

In a now-viral announcement shared on social media, Ludacris expressed deep pride and emotion over the citizenship ceremony. The move comes after the entertainer took a DNA ancestry test which revealed Gabonese heritage in his bloodline, prompting him and his family to make the life-changing decision to reconnect with their African roots.

The video circulating online, originally posted by @dammiedammie35 on X (formerly Twitter), shows Ludacris and his family proudly holding up their new Gabonese passports, smiling alongside officials and locals who welcomed them warmly.

“I’m a citizen of Gabon now. My entire family is too. This is more than a moment — this is a return to where it all began,” Ludacris said.

The move has drawn praise across social media, with many hailing the rapper for taking a bold step to reconnect with his African heritage—a journey many in the African diaspora have sought to undertake. Gabon has in recent years offered citizenship and cultural re-immersion opportunities to African Americans tracing their lineage back to the region.

Ludacris, known for hits like “Stand Up,” “Area Codes,” and his role in the Fast & Furious franchise, has long expressed a love for Africa. He previously visited Ghana during the “Year of Return” in 2019 and has often advocated for deeper connections between Black Americans and the African continent.

Fans and followers across the globe are praising the move as a powerful symbol of identity, healing, and reconnection. With Gabon now etched into his family’s future, Ludacris has not only traced his past — he’s building a new legacy on African soil.
