Rauf Aregbesola, the incumbent governor of Osun State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC has been re-elected in the governorship election held on Saturday.
The election, which was held under very tight security recorded a massive turnout of registered voters.
Bamitale Omole, Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ife, the Returning Officer, said Aregbesola polled 394,684 votes to emerge winner while Iyiola Omisore, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate polled 292,747 votes and Fatai Akinbade, Labour Party, LP candidate had 8,898 votes.
Wild jubilations have followed the announcement of the election result on Sunday morning in Osogbo and other APC strongholds within the state.
Rasaq Adeosun, APC representative at the collation centre, described the result as the unstoppable voice of the people.
Some security personnel are still transversing the state to maintain law and order.
