It was a night of pure dominance in the UEFA Champions League as Arsenal and Barcelona produced two of the most emphatic performances of the season.

At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal dismantled Atletico Madrid 4–0 in front of a roaring North London crowd, while in Spain, Barcelona crushed 10-man Olympiacos 6–1 at Camp Nou — with Marcus Rashford once again stealing the spotlight.

Arsenal’s performance was a statement of intent. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Declan Rice, and a brace from Viktor Gyökeres sealed a flawless victory that extended their unbeaten run in Europe.

The Gunners have now won seven consecutive matches against La Liga sides — a new record in Champions League history.

Manager Mikel Arteta described the display as “one of the most complete” under his tenure, praising his side’s hunger and tactical discipline. “We played with courage, intelligence, and control,” Arteta said after the match. “Every player contributed to a near-perfect performance.” Meanwhile, over in Barcelona, Camp Nou was treated to a footballing masterclass. Olympiacos were reduced to 10 men early in the game when Santiago Hezze was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Alejandro Balde in the 12th minute. From that moment, Barcelona unleashed a relentless attacking storm.

Fermín López netted a brilliant hat-trick, Marcus Rashford scored twice, and 17-year-old Lamine Yamal added a goal and an assist in a dazzling display of precision football. The result sent Barça to six points in the league phase and built massive momentum ahead of their upcoming El Clásico clash with Real Madrid on October 26.

For Marcus Rashford, his resurgence in Spain continues to turn heads. Since joining Barcelona on loan from Manchester United in July 2025, the English forward has scored five goals and provided five assists in 12 appearances — including four Champions League goals, the highest tally in the tournament so far.

Coach Hansi Flick praised Rashford’s form, calling him “a player reborn,” while the forward himself expressed excitement for the big game ahead. “El Clásico is why I came here,” Rashford said. “Barcelona has brought the best out of me again.”

The win places Barcelona among the tournament’s top-performing teams, with 11 goals in just two matches, while Arsenal’s dominance over Spanish sides continues to break records. Both clubs now look unstoppable as they set their sights on the knockout stages.
