Members of the Nigerian Baptist Church may have learnt how to praise and worship God in a new way.
About four hours after it declared its 102nd annual national convention opened in Obinze, Port Harcourt Road, in Imo State, on Saturday, April 18, one of the church’s buildings still under construction suddenly collapsed.
No casualty was however recorded. The 600-capacity building seemed to have lacked strong pillars at its middle to cushion the weight of the beams and roofing materials.
Not even the workers who were in the nearby building when the magazine visited were hurt.
The incident occurred shortly after the Lydia Auxiliary ladies of the Convention rounded off their maiden get-together.
Members of the church who spoke to the magazine confirmed that workers at the site had earlier warned about the likelihood of a collapse as the structure did not appear to be in order.
