Bomb Blast In Abuja, Scores Feared Dead

Scene of the Abuja Bomb Blast this morning.

An early morning bomb blast has rocked Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT on Monday.

Reports say the blast occurred at El-Rufai park in the Nyanya area of the FCT. Casualty figures have not been determined yet as at the time of filling this report but some of the victims have been taken to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses say the blast affected a large of number of people heading to work in the morning.

The affected park was named after Nasir El-Rufai, former Minister of the FCT because it is a place where mass transit buses introduced during his tenure as Minister converge to pick passengers heading to work in different parts of the FCT.

Considering its strategic location as a mass transit hub, reports say the early Monday morning blast must have been targeted at workers who had converged there for transit.
