Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Paramount Ruler of Iwo-land has commended the management of Bowen University, Iwo for improving the institution’s standard despite emerging challenges confronting academic establishments in recent times. Akanbi attributed quality academic tempo of Bowen University to competent leadership that aided survival from challenges facing higher education in the country. He said this at a special lecture to mark the 20th anniversary of Bowen University, Iwo. The traditional ruler lauded the promoters of the institution for their sacrifice that birthed Baptist College, Iwo in 1979 which later metamorphosed to Bowen University, the biggest and the largest Baptist University in Africa. Oba Akanbi pledged to renew his support for the university. He tasked the institution to consider aviation studies in their future academic plan as he pledged to donate more land on request by the university. Bowen University, Iwo, was founded by the Baptist Convention on 17th July, 2001. An elated Oluwo said Bowen is one of the pride of Iwoland.
