Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, Osun State House of Assembly member-elect, has said the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari as the President of Nigeria and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo was indicative of the beginning of a new dawn in the political history of Nigeria.

Oyintiloye who joined millions of Nigerians to express gratitude to God for the peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the process, noted that the inauguration had opened a new vista of opportunities and optimism for the country.

He said the celebration was remarkable because those who predicted the fall of the country during the 2015 elections have been proved wrong.

“Nigerians have been eager to witness the epoch making event, the transfer of power which signalled a new beginning,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the competence of President Muhammadu Buhari, Oyintiloye urged Nigerians to keep faith with their decision saying though the journey may be rough, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

“President Buhari is a man who Nigerians believe would bring the desired change, not only change of government, but change from bad governance to good governance” he added.

He also acknowledged the statesmanship of the erstwhile President, Goodluck Jonathan for exercising civility, maturity, which he said, is alien in African culture by not only accepting defeat but also congratulating President Buhari even before the completion of votes counting.

Oyintiloye then called on Buhari to refuse all forms of distractions but provide well-focused leadership in line with his solemn oath, so as to lead the nation out of the yoke of poverty and compromises in governance.

He said the problem of insecurity, power, unemployment among others were some of the critical areas that required urgent attention.

He also acknowledged those he described as patriots across the length and breadth of Nigeria, such as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Osun State governor, who synergised with progressive folds to make the change happen.

The lawmaker-elect who stressed that the expectation of Nigerians is very high, said to justify the mandate of the people, the new administration must work hard to make lives meaningful for Nigerians.

He also appealed to the National Assembly to support and assist the President in the discharge of his duty without any distraction.
