Sipho Moyo, ONE Africa executive director says; “ONE worked closely this year with a number of the AFRIMA nominees to record a song about the importance of agriculture to Africa’s future. Nineteen African musicians using their voices to inspire more than two million Africans to take real action is just one of many reasons we should be celebrating African music”.
Mike Dada, President and Executive Producer, AFRIMA, said, “This partnership with ONE and Africa 2.0 is an indication that Africa is on the brink of greatness and re-positioning of Africa through the instrumentality of advocacy, music and social responsibility.
ONE is an international campaigning and advocacy organisation of nearly six million people taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. ONE raises public awareness and works with political leaders to combat AIDS and preventable diseases, increase investments in agriculture and nutrition, and demand greater transparency so governments are accountable to their citizens.
Africa 2.0 is a pan-African civil society organisation that consists of 500 young emerging leaders from across the continent and diaspora, with 29 chapters, 23 of them being in Africa. Africa 2.0 is more of a community than a network, of like minded, critical thinkers that share a collective vision for Africa and a commitment to finding and implementing sustainable solutions that will in turn leapfrog the development of the continent. Africa 2.0 provides a platform that enables change makers a common African promise.
