As part of efforts to bring home Nigerians who were trapped in other countries following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic over 265 were brought into the country on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

They were evacuated from the United Arab Emirates, UAE. There was panic in the afternoon when the Emirate Airline which was supposed to have landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos was said to have returned to Dubai midway in the flight. It was later discovered that the pilot took that decision because one of the passengers went into labour and had to be taken back for medical attention.

The aircraft later returned with the remaining passengers. It touched down at the Lagos airport at 7.40 p.m.
