Delta Gets 20-Member Management Committee to Tackle Impending Flood Disaster

Reacting to federal government’s warning of river flooding by the end of July, Delta State, one of the 19 states listed as being at high risk, has announced the constitution of a 20-man flood disaster management committee to respond to the expected fallout.
The terms of reference of the committee, headed by the secretary to the state government, SSG, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, are, among others, to propose appropriate measures for the prevention and management of flooding; address displacement of people and suggest ways for provision of relief materials to victims, as well as advise the governor on measures to manage the challenges that may arise.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Emu, the 2024 Flood Disaster Management Committee approved by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has Ejiro Terry Etacherure, Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, as Co-Chairman, while G.E. Ejohwomu, Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Special Duties, will serve as secretary.
Members of the committee included the Commissioners for Environment, Ejiro Tommy Jamani, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, Health, Orode Meyiwa Uduaghan, Humanitarian Affairs, Social and Girl Child Development, and Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Information.
Also on the committee are the commissioners for secondary education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, Patrick Ukah, Director General, Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, and his Warri Uvwie & Environs Development Agency counterpart, Goday Ejinyere,
