Babatunde Fashola, Lagos State governor, has called on the Presidency to investigate reports that some men and women in black uniforms are being gathered daily at the toll gate end of Lagos.

The persons who are identified as SURE P/FERMA Federal Task Force members, according to the governor, are without any legal basis and are operating without the knowledge of the police or any constitutionally established agency.

Fashola said this at the 8th Town Hall meeting on Security, organised by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF on Thursday, November 27, 2014, at the City Hall, Lagos. He also sought to know what law enforcement responsibility these individuals are entrusted with and “to which constitutional agency do they report?”

While reminding the Federal government, especially the Presidency of how the Boko Haram insurgency began, Fashola said, “it is obvious that little regard is paid at the center to the ‘broken window’ theory, a theory that propounds that small acts of disrespect for the law, unaddressed over a long period will ultimately snowball and lead to a break-down of law and order generally.”
