A teacher in Christ-Mitots School, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Stella Nwadigo, has been arrested after being exposed in a bewildering viral video physically abusing a three-year-old boy named Abayomi Michael.

The shocking footage has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about the safety and welfare of children in educational institutions.

In the video, Nwadigo is seen mistreating the young child in a manner that has drawn strong condemnation from parents, educators, and child protection advocates.

The incident has triggered demands for stricter oversight and better enforcement of child protection policies in schools.

Following public outcry, Nwadigo was arrested and is currently being held at a local police station. Witnesses at the station reported that she was seen crying and pleading for help, but authorities are pressing forward with the investigation to ensure justice is served.

Parents of students at Christ-Mitots School have expressed their shock and disappointment, calling for accountability from the school’s management.

So far, the school has yet to issue an official statement addressing the incident, leaving many questioning their protocols for staff recruitment and child safety.

Advocacy groups have stepped in, urging the government to take immediate action to strengthen child protection measures in schools across Lagos State. They are also calling for a review of policies and mandatory training programmes for educators to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Authorities have assured the public of a thorough investigation, with promises to identify and address any lapses in the system that allowed such behavior to occur.

For now, the arrest of Nwadigo is being seen as a critical first step toward justice for young Abayomi and his family.

This incident serves as a chilling reminder of the vulnerabilities children face and the need for heightened vigilance, accountability, and systemic reform to ensure their safety in schools.
