Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) workers have accused their superiors of severe underpayment, following widespread rumours of an alleged salary increase that never materialised.

One disgruntled worker revealed that employees were supposed to receive ₦85,000, but instead, they consistently take home only ₦30,000—far below expectation.

“We were promised an increase, but nothing has changed. We’re still being paid peanuts despite the hard work we put in every day,” the worker lamented.

LAWMA workers, who play a crucial role in keeping Lagos clean, have long complained about poor wages and harsh working conditions. This latest revelation has sparked outrage among employees, many of whom feel exploited and unheard.

As frustration mounts, pressure is now on LAWMA officials and the Lagos State government to address the allegations and clarify the situation. Will the authorities respond to the workers’ demands, or will this crisis escalate further? Time will tell.
