Namadi Sambo, Nigeria’s Vice President, said the Nigerian Air Force is fulfilling its mandate in the transformation agenda of the federal government.
Sambo made the statement on Friday, September 19 in Enugu State at the graduation ceremony of 36 commercial Helicopter Pilots from the Nigerian Air Force International Helicopter Flying School in Enugu. The school was established in 2012.
The Vice President, who praised the Nigerian Air Force for first Nigerian-trained Pilots, also charged them to “sustain the tempo” so that the school can compete with other global flying schools.
“This is just the beginning. In the near future, this institution will not only train pilots but will maintain and manufacture aircrafts,” he said.
On his part, Air Marshal Adesola Amosun, Chief of Air Staff, thanked the federal government for providing them the opportunity to ensure that the goals of the school were met.
Group Captain Ismaila Yahaya, Rector of the school, revealed that the Nigerian Air Force, Navy, Police and private individuals sponsored the graduates.
