A Nigerian woman has gone viral on social media after sharing her near-death experience from a botched Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) allegedly performed by a fake nurse posing as a plastic surgeon in Lagos.

In a tearful video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @dammiedammie35, the victim revealed that she spent over ₦7 million on the cosmetic procedure, only to end up battling life-threatening complications that required months of treatment and emergency care.

According to her, the so-called “doctor” who operated on her was later exposed as a licensed nurse with no surgical training, who allegedly runs an underground clinic in Lagos offering cheap cosmetic surgeries to unsuspecting clients.

“I trusted her because she sounded professional and showed pictures of previous patients. But after the surgery, I couldn’t breathe properly. My body was swollen and infected. I almost died,” she said.

The incident has reignited public debate about the growing BBL trend in Nigeria, where many young women undergo risky, unregulated cosmetic procedures in search of “perfect bodies.”

Health experts have repeatedly warned that BBL is one of the most dangerous cosmetic surgeries, with a high mortality rate when performed by unqualified practitioners.

As of press time, the Lagos State Ministry of Health has not issued an official statement on the incident, but social media users are calling for an investigation into illegal cosmetic clinics operating across the state.

This case adds to a rising number of reports about botched cosmetic surgeries in Nigeria, fueled by social media beauty standards and the lack of strict medical oversight.
