Nollywood is buzzing with drama after actress Wunmi Toriola took offense at comments made by fellow actor Afeez Owo during a podcast appearance.

Afeez, while sipping pepper soup on set, responded to a question suggesting that some producers turn to Wunmi when they can’t afford his wife, Mide Martins. He tried to be diplomatic, noting that Mide may be versatile in playing crazy roles on screen but is calm in real life, unlike Wunmi, whom he described as “crazy both in film and in reality” because she doesn’t take nonsense.

Although he ended by praising Wunmi as a fantastic actress, his words didn’t sit well with her. Wunmi reacted during a TikTok live session, calling Afeez a “shameless old man,” adding that if she wanted, she too could hire a husband and put him on a podcast to “say rubbish with pepper soup.”

Her reaction quickly stirred debate online. Some fans felt Wunmi’s fiery response proved Afeez’s point, while others argued that Afeez should have avoided such a comparative remark in the first place, especially since it involved his wife and a colleague.

After facing public backlash, Wunmi later apologized for her outburst, drawing a temporary close to one of Nollywood’s latest feuds.
