The Edo State Government has said the appointment of. Efe Stewart as the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a statement Thursday evening, special adviser to the governor on media and communication strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said Efe was appointed to replace Paul Ohonbamu, who has disengaged from the government.
According to him, “The new Commissioner-designate will go through all the necessary confirmation in the Edo State House of Assembly before he resumes office.
“If confirmed by the House of Assembly, he would bring his wealth of experience in public service to bear on governance.”
The government’s new position was not unconnected with the protest by the factional speaker of the state House of Assembly, Frank Okiye who frowned at the executive fiat with which the appointment was made. Secretary to the state government, Osarodion Ogie who announced the appointment in a statement, had said the appointment was “with immediate effect”
